Current mood: good

Hi back again from the land of migraines. @#%$ had another one of them last night. It was not too bad and I took the Maxalt early but still OW.

Hey all the medical types out there is it possible for a person (me) to be allergic to some type of hand sanitizer and that that could cause a migraine? It has happened the last two times we went to Kelly to help. They advise the use of hand sanitizer after each visit you make.

Anyway I am feeling better and just a little draggy today.

*sends good vibes to all out in LJville*

*banishes migraines forEVer!*

Lots of various things can set off migraines. The handwash is something to look into. Try taking your own purell or something and see if you don't get a headache while you're there.

:D

Just wash your hands! That hand sanitizer thing is the biggest load of crap ever dreamed up by a marketing department. The bacteria living on the skin of your hands is mostly located in the crevices- not the surfaces. You only use a drop of sanitizer right? It's mostly made of alcohol which will kill most bacteria it comes in contact with. The thing is- the way you use it means that it can only come into direct contact with a very small fraction of the bacteria on your hands. It's impossible for you to a)use enough and b) spread it evenly on all surfaces. If you even could do it properly, the skin on your hands would be dried out from the alcohol! Also, what doesn't kill bacteria makes them stronger. You agravating them with your little alcohol gel makes them more resistant to it the next time you use it. (I can find the paper someone published on this if you want)

Washing your hands strips the bacteria off your skin. It doesnt kill them- the bacteria stick to the layer of oil in your skin, the soap (a surfactant) makes the oil soluble in water. You rubbing back and forth knocks the oil/bacteria off. If you are really concerned, you should soap your hands up and then vigioursly rub every where- even your wrists.

anyways, sorry to rant at you in your LJ!! It just makes me mad that the companies are getting away with something so basically wrong. (I too am allergic to random chemical things, so I'd say that it's a good possibility you could be.)

Thanks for the info which btw was not a rant. I will try just handwashing. You know to hear the hand sanitizer people talk a few drops work wonders. What you say makes sense. Thank you.
Hope you have a good day.

The best description of a migraine is it is like an ice cream headache the does not go away, plus all the other stuff like lights are way too bright, noises are way too noisy, that lovely nausea, but the worst is that it is minus the ice cream. What a rip.
Sounds like you are aware of how they too, yuck.
Thanks
